A new beach club on the Albanian Riviera

Ksamil, on Albania's southern coast, has become one of the most visited points of the Albanian Riviera, known for its clear water and rocky coves facing the Ionian Sea. African Beach Club opened as a new venue in the area, built around a lounge and restaurant concept designed to sit naturally within its coastal setting.

From the outset, the brief was simple to state and demanding to execute: clear and consistent music coverage across the venue, with an installation that would stay discreet against the beach club's architecture.

The challenge: even coverage in an open, exposed space

Outdoor hospitality venues built directly on the coastline face a specific set of problems that indoor systems don't have to solve. Loudspeakers are exposed to salt air, direct sun and, depending on the layout, wind and sand. At the same time, an open floor plan with no walls to contain the sound makes even coverage harder to achieve: without careful placement, some areas end up too loud while others barely receive any signal.

For African Beach Club, the biggest technical challenge was achieving even sound coverage across the full open area, spanning both the lounge and the restaurant zones, without the installation becoming a visible part of the layout.

System design: outdoor loudspeakers built for coastal exposure

Fredi Electronics Shpk, Ecler's exclusive distributor in Albania, designed the installation around Ecler's eMOTUS outdoor loudspeaker range, selected both for their IP65-rated weather resistance and for a cabinet design that would blend into the venue's architecture rather than stand out as visible technical equipment.

The system combines two eMOTUS models to cover the different zones and distances involved:

• 5 x eMOTUS8ODBK: 2-way loudspeakers with an 8" woofer and 1" tweeter, IP65-rated for outdoor use, covering the areas requiring more output and low-frequency presence.

• 6 x eMOTUS5ODBK: compact 5" 2-way loudspeakers (40 W RMS @ 8 Ω), also IP65-rated, filling in coverage across the lounge and restaurant areas at closer range.

Both models are built for permanent outdoor installation, with aluminium grilles and UV-protection treatment, and include wall-mount hardware and a safety sling as standard, a relevant detail for an installation directly exposed to sea air.

Amplification is handled by a single Ecler AURA-4B600, a 4-channel, Class D amplifier rated at 4 x 600 W RMS @ 4 Ω, compatible with both low and high-impedance (70/100V) line configurations. Running eleven loudspeakers from one 4-channel amplifier, grouped by zone, kept the rack simple while leaving headroom for the venue's dynamic range across a full day of service, from background music at lunch to higher output in the evening.

Discreet integration with the venue's design

Beyond acoustic performance, the brief placed equal weight on how the system would look. The eMOTUS series' compact cabinet design allowed the loudspeakers to be positioned across the lounge and restaurant areas without disrupting sightlines or the venue's open-air aesthetic, letting the architecture and the view stay the focal point rather than the equipment.

According to Fredi Electronics, the combination of build quality and visual design was one of the main reasons Ecler was chosen for the project.

Since installation, the system has delivered clear, even, high-quality sound coverage across the venue throughout the summer season, with the loudspeakers holding up to continuous outdoor exposure without affecting performance.
